Lunch and Learn: CyberCrime
SSVA partnered with The Medical Society of Virginia Insurance Agency to present a Lunch and Learn to local medical practices.
Focusing on CyberSecurity, Bill Lopez, COO and co-founder of Strategic Solutions of Virginia, spoke to attendees about Cyber Criminals and their resulting cyber crimes.
By better understanding the individuals behind cyber attacks, an organization can tailor its training and protections to defend against the expected behaviors. A major point of Lopez's talk was the need for a multi-layered approach to security. It is no longer enough to purchase a simple AntiVirus (AV) product and expect that to protect your business. All aspects need to be protected, including advanced training of end-users to counteract Social Engineering attacks.
Following Lopez's presentation, Susan DeMola and Sean Liverman of The Medical Society of Virginia Insurance Agency, shared statistics on breaches, incidents, and how a business can leverage Cyber Insurance to protect itself in the event of a breach.
It was an educational and enlightening event, designed to spark conversations and ideas to better protect local practices.
A big thank you to all attendees as well as The Medical Society of Virginia Insurance Agency for partnering with us and opening their office to all who attended.
